'Captain America 4' will explore what it's like to be a superhero without powers in the MCU

After Sam Wilson, Anthony Mackie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe collected Captain America's shield in Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Marvel Studios announced that there would be a fourth solo movie of the character with his new lead. What happens, and what is more curious, is that there is a substantial difference between Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) and Wilson: one is a super-soldier with superhuman abilities and the other is not.

Already in May of 2021, when the project was not even official, Malcolm Spellman, creator of the Disney + series, dropped that it would not be unreasonable for Wilson to obtain the powers that he eventually has in the comics in 'Captain America 4', this is a psychic affinity with birds and a telepathic link with your pet; but it seems that eventually this idea will be discarded. Speaking on ComicBook's Phase Zero podcast, MCU producer Nate Moore stated that the film would explore what it's like to be a superhero without powers. In fact, and for this very reason, Wilson will lose many of the fights, something new in this franchise.

"I think he's not Steve Rogers and I think that's a good thing. Because to me, this new Captain is like Rocky. He's going to be the loser in any situation. He's not a super-soldier. He's not a hundred years old. He doesn't have the Avengers. What about this guy who announces publicly, unsupported, “I am the new Captain America.” What happens next? I think he’s fascinating because he’s a man. He’s a man with wings and a shield, but he’s a man. "Says Moore of 'Captain America 4,' which is still in a very early stage of development," We're going to give him a hard time and make him work it out, and we'll see what happens when he is overtaken, surpassed and overtaken. in every way.

What makes someone Captain America? I'm going to argue that it's not being a super-soldier. And I think we're going to demonstrate that with Mackie and Sam Wilson. " Remember that at first Rogers is a weak, skinny and too young guy, but he is the ideal person to defend the shield and receive the experimental serum for his character and his sense of duty and justice.

A New Approach

Sam Wilson, also known as Falcon, first appeared in "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" as a veteran of the US Air Force. He was recruited as part of the Avengers in 'Civil War' and consolidated into the team in 'Avengers: Infinity War' and 'Endgame'. In the latter Steve, after defeating Thanos, decides to go back to 1940 and live his life with Peggy, giving the shield to Sam when he meets him when he is already an older man.

Sam does not accept this recognition and responsibility until the end of 'Falcon and the Winter Soldier', where he teams up with Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) who orders Wakanda with the new Captain America costume. So it seems that Marvel will choose to turn its strategy with the character because what is clear is that Wilson could not take the same amount of punches, punches, and falls as Rogers and will have to explore more human aspects of an entire icon.
